Lexington and Ohio Rail Road Company records, [1832?]-[1845?].

This collection contains two documents of the Lexington and Ohio Railroad, a line established between Lexington and Frankfort, Kentucky, in the 1830s and 1840s. The earlier of the two documents is a form for itemization and payment for work in building the railroad, including excavation. The other is a "McKee & Swigert's Way-Bill For Passengers" (1845), listing the names of passengers traveling between Lexington and Frankfort.

The Lexington and Ohio Railroad Company was incorporated in 1830 by a legislative charter setting its course as being from Lexington to one or more points on the Ohio River. The city of Louisville lobbied to be chosen as the western terminus of the line and raised funds for the railroad through private subscription and special tax levies.
